Every month, I’m going to review my earnings from writing on Medium.com at my Publish Every Day newsletter, but I’ll also do a deep dive and really dissect my best-performing and worst-performing stories from the past 30 days.
Not only will you get a window into what top earners can drum up on the platform, but I’ll give you actionable ideas you can apply to improve your own work and results today.

A warning first
It just so happens that my first crack at this comes during my highest-earning month ever on Medium.
Now I want to start with a small disclaimer.
A lot of people read posts and watch videos like this, think they’re going to do similar numbers overnight, and then quit within a week or two because they haven’t been able to order their blue Lambo yet.
Folks, that’s not how it works. Not on Medium, not on YouTube, not anywhere in life.
Platforms reward a few key things:
Good niche selection
Quality
Consistency
I like to think that I’ve been pretty diligent about all three of these over my past 3 years on Medium.
As a result, I now have 40,000 followers and earn thousands of dollars every month from blogging, which is pretty fun to say honestly.
The problem is, most people will look at the “thousands of dollars” sentence and completely gloss over the “pretty diligent for the past 3 years” sentence.
The reality is, most content creators will tell you it takes 2-5 years to start seeing any real success, and it often takes much longer than that.
If you’re not willing to dedicate more than a couple weeks to building something before quitting, don’t even bother starting.
You will fail.
But if the idea of patiently creating something on the side over time and getting paid while you do it sounds appealing, please read on.
What I earned from writing on Medium in July 2025
As I said, July was my highest-ever earning month on the platform.
But it wasn’t the result of an overnight surge. Over the preceding months, with consistency and good topic selection, I was able to build some pretty solid momentum.
