Writers and readers at Medium.com have been reporting problems connecting to the site for a while now, something the company finally addressed in a note to readers on Thursday.
The company also suggested a couple of fixes.
Although it recommended users in India try changing their DNS addresses, the REAL problem seems to be with local Internet Service Providers (ISPs).
Apparently, the ISPs are pointing to the wrong IP address for Medium.com, and efforts to get them to rectify the issue have fallen on deaf ears.

What Medium suggests
So Medium is asking users there to send the following note to their ISPs in India:
Hello,
I am a customer of your ISP. I am trying to connect to the website Medium.com on your network, and it is not working. Traffic to Medium.com should point to a Cloudflare IP address, and it is not. I am requesting this ticket be escalated to your NOC/DNS team to investigate why traffic is pointing to the wrong IP address, and correct or clear the DNS cache.
Thank you.
The hope is that, if enough people reach out, the local ISPs will get off their butts and actually do something about the problem.
Are you having problems logging onto Medium from India?
Has the problem been fixed?
Let me know in the comments!

I’m from India, and no, the problem still isn’t fixed yet. I reached out to my ISP, and they said they’ll check with their technical team. For now, I’ve been accessing Medium through a VPN, which works fine, but it’s definitely inconvenient. Hoping they sort this out soon. It’s been going on for way too long.
I also have a small doubt that the government might have blocked the site, but since there haven’t been any public announcements about it, the chances seem pretty low. Still, it’s strange that this issue has been going on for so long.
